About Ken and Teresa Lawson
Describing their music as “Classic Hits” is not a big stretch -- at least in the Pacific Northwest where they live. As independent artists, Ken & Teresa have performed well over a thousand concerts through the years. The duo also earned radio airplay around the country, along with TV and radio appearances in the Northwest, and have also served their community as worship leaders. Their New Beginnings and For The Heart releases sold well enough to compete with many Christian label artists at the time. But most impressive of all is the married couple accomplished all of this while raising their somewhat large family.
Ken & Teresa’s story is a unique one. Ken Lawson was a widower with five young children. He had just started doing music full-time when he decided to propose to Teresa, a longtime friend of the family. They were all piled into a Volkswagen van with a broken heater, traveling in 10-degree weather. The two toddlers in snow suits were crying in the seat behind them and the three other children were fighting in the back. Although most men might think otherwise, Ken couldn’t resist the urge to propose at this very moment. Upon hearing his offer, Teresa took one look back at the chaos sitting behind them before returning her gaze to Ken. She thought, “Well, it can’t get worse than this?” Despite all odds, she felt brave enough to accept. The Lawsons would end up having two more children and adopting a daughter in her late teens. Teresa quips, “If I wasn’t crazy then, I certainly am now!”
This glimpse into the life Ken & Teresa share together is just the tip of the iceberg, but its richness produced these very authentic and honest songs. The pair’s eclectic CCM music doesn’t just share thoughts and feelings from “walking through the fire” together, but also celebrates and reflects the love, hope, joy, comfort and encouragement that comes from an incredible loving and compassionate God. Within these songs, you’ll also find a deep foundation of Biblical truth from their diligent studies in the pursuit of answers.
Ken & Teresa are currently releasing a remastered version of their classic analog album, New Beginnings, as well as working on an EP of brand-new music. Lawson describes these songs as “lovingly and carefully crafted from our home to yours.” The duo is also gearing up for limited concert engagements again. In short: They’re back!
